Wendy’s was among the very first Australian Fast food chain to break into the Australian market. The first store was opened inside Glenelg, a Melbourne suburb Glenelg in July of 1995.
Wendy’s did not have an Australian store prior to this, but the brand’s reputation was established by the time of this opening.
As of 1996, Australia came in fifth place for the number of restaurants per person.
The country has also become an ideal place for fast food.
With its affordable price along with the comfort of a fast-food establishment, Wendy’s stood out in the fast-food industry.
Wendy was the initial chain to do this, as it was a component of the rapidly-casual industry,” says Wendy’s co-founder, Stephen Lea.
“People would go to McDonald’s, and it was their go-to place.”
Wendy’s also earned a reputation for being the most inexpensive establishment in town. It came as no surprise when the chain decided to launch its first location in a neighborhood which also housed numerous fast food outlets.
However, Wendy’s first Australian restaurant was not the first chain of restaurants to start operations in Australia.
In the past there have been many chains across Australia however, while Wendy’s did not have a name, however, it was the company that was later referred to by the name of Wendy’s Supermarket.
The chain was present in a range of stores across Australia at the beginning of the 1990s, including one in Melbourne’s inner west as well as a Hobart store on the north shoreline.
Wendy Supermarket saw an annual turnover average of $1.5 million. This was accompanied by a cost per person being around $11.
Wendy and her franchisees had many restaurants throughout Australia as well as in other countries.
The store was opened on the 1st of January 1996. It was only the 5th Wendy’s to open in Australia in the preceding five years.
In the year 2000, Wendy’s had just launched its first nationwide store located in Sydney The store was named in honor of the famous restaurant from the US show Friends.
First Wendy’s in Australia was opened on January 2nd, 1996 in Glenelg, the town. Glenelg.
