History
The 2005-2006 Golden Icon Award-winning company opened its doors to the public for the first time in 1989 in the quaint Winston-Salem community in North Carolina. From there they expanded to states, but none of them was in the Lone State.
But, Plano, Texas did become the location in which the headquarters were put. In March of 1992, eight additional restaurants were opened, and by the end of February, Lone Star had 152 establishments.
In addition to expanding the business, [update] Lone Star’s parent company, Center Cut Hospitality, also manages its own restaurant, Texas Land and Cattle, which is more of a ranch-house design than a steakhouse.
They even expanded internationally to Australia between 1993 and 2011. However, they have since then, they have removed themselves from Australia entirely.
In 2005, Lone Star Steakhouse entered into a buyout contract with Lone Star Funds; a private equity firm based out of Dallas.
The company was sold at $27.35 for each share. In the wake of the deal, Lone Star was de-listed from NASDAQ and ceased its affiliation with David Stremme, the #40 Dodge.
After the buyout was concluded and settled, that was the time the moment that Lone Star turned from the well-known “Texas Roadhouse” ambiance to an urban style, leaving the traditional restaurants that had the cowboy style of tumbleweed Texas.
With the exception of “Texas” being in the name, there’s nothing similar to the Lone Star States’ the Lone Star States in the Lone Star design.
